by Simon Fleming
These works are an exercise in repetition. I chose to constrain myself with a single form and work within its confines. This is an ongoing projectthat consists of a series of simple painted drawings of a stone and thatch cottage. These works are investigations into form and colour, but also motivated initially, by the idea of visual identities created through a marketed culture. and social memes.
Simon Fleming is a Trinidad born Canadian artist living in Ireland. He studied illustration at Sheridan College and Fine Art at the School of Fine Art & Music, University of Guelph, both in Canada. He has exhibited in Ontario and Alberta as well as internationally, from Chile, France, Sweden to the UK and Ireland. Simon’s practice looks at elements of identity and concepts of place as a starting point in his practice.
